Ken Hutchins is the founder and developer of SuperSlow.
How did SuperSlow get started?
It all started through an "Osteoporosis" four year study at
the University of Florida, financed by Arthur Jones, the developer of
Nautilus equipment. Ken Hutchins was one of the directors of that program
who had to develop an exercise protocol on middle-aged osteoporetic subjects
that was precise, cautious, and sage, yet intense enough to reach the
goals of the study. That protocol has evolved into SuperSlow.
Where did you get your training in SuperSlow?
I was trained and certified by Ken Hutchins himself. He requires absolute
perfection and safety for certification, taking four days of oral, written,
and practical exams. I am presently a certified Level II Master Instructor.
Where is your Studio located?
The Studio is located in Fremont, California, near Thornton Ave. and
Paseo Padre Parkway. Since both staff and students are totally focused
during the exercise sessions, we cannot accomodate "walk-ins."
That's why we do not publicize the exact address. Visiting our Studio
is by
only.
What kind of information do you need from me in order to get started
doing SuperSlow?
Just print and fill out the Information
Form. You can either fax or mail it to the office.
The form is also part of the information packet.
Can you tell me a little about how the program works?
The second session is ½ hour of more intense exercise, along with
expanding on the principles of SuperSlow. Again,
we will review precautions for safety. (I
am with you face to face, one-on-one for the entire time you are training:
setting up, positioning, instructing, and recording data.)
By the third session you will begin to experience SuperSlow at its best
and from then on you will know beyond a doubt the benefits of personal
exercise training.
Do you strength train only people with medical conditions or with a
prescription?
Many of my students want to exercise to and improve their overall health
and fitness, increase strength, and look better, but have no specific
medical problem. Some people contact me through the web site or from word
of mouth. As a physical therapist, some people are referred by physicians,
chiropractors and podiatrists.
People with specific conditions have to be monitored more closely. An
initial evaluation and report is required, and in some instances they
can be covered for a period of time by their insurance. Interestingly
enough, I have noticed that just about everyone has some minor-or even
major-medical situation that I find on their "Health Analysis Sheet."
I monitor these situations carefully as they exercise.
I welcome those who want to be stronger, lose weight and in general want
a higher level of fitness.
Can I continue training after insurance no longer
contributes to exercise sessions?
The packet is a collection of information that
you must read prior to starting SuperSlow. In addition to the Information
Form, it contains several other pieces of very important material.
